Grace and Henry’s plea for help raises a record amount of money for Save the Children
Two of our children, Grace and Henry, have shown a great sense of global awareness and responsibility over the past two weeks. The two pupils came to see me to say they wanted to do something to help the people who had been devastated in the recent typhoon in the Philippines.
They wanted to have a non-uniform day to raise money for the Save the Children Disaster Relief fund, and they also come up with the idea that all the money collected at the infant nativities should go towards this cause as well. They spoke at one of the recent nativities to explain why they wanted to raise the money to help the families devastated by the typhoon.
We were overwhelmed to receive £703.68 towards this cause – the most The Tynings School has ever raised for one cause. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.
Grace & Henry have shown such concern for the children affected by this tragedy – I am so very impressed by their to want to make the world a better place – this is to me the real purpose of education and I am very proud of our two pupils and their sense of community.
