Deer

In year 2 we have been lucky enough to have chicks living with us for 2 weeks. We watched the chicks hatch in an incubator and now they have grown so much! We really enjoyed holding them.

Last term we learned all about  flight in Bristol and we made hot air balloons in groups. We made these using papier mache. To do this we first shredded lots of newspapers, then we covered balloons in PVA glue and stuck the newspaper all over the top. We did several layers of newspaper and then we left our balloons to dry. Once they were all dry, we painted them with bright colours and attached baskets to the bottom which we also decorated. It was great fun and our finished balloons look amazing!

We have been learning about fractions this term and have been focusing on halves, quarters and thirds. We worked in groups to build fraction walls to help us compare fractions. We had some very interesting discussions and learnt some new facts, for example; 2 quarters is the same as one half.

In Deer Class we have been learning about the different parts of a plant and what their jobs are. We were given plants in groups and we identified where the stem, roots and leaves were. We then talked about the things that plants need to be able to survive and grow. We really enjoyed looking at a basil plant and we loved the smell of its leaves!

We are Deer Class

Take a look at some of our work and sometimes us in the classroom. You are always welcome to come into school and take a closer look. You can see from the displays in our classrooms the variety of topics we cover. As the year progresses, the displays change. By July, you will be able to see the whole range of subjects we have covered. Our Working walls help us learn – the content builds as the term progresses.
