Term 5

We have had a super Term 5 learning about “Mini Worlds” in our minibeasts topic. We have learned about caterpillar and frog lifecycles, going to visit the pond to look for tadpoles and watching the caterpillar lifecycle in action with our very own Insect Lore caterpillars. Here are some of our best bits…!

Term 4

We have had great fun learning about what we might like to be when we grow up in our Term 4 topic. We have found out about police officers, fire fighters, doctors, postal workers, architects and lots more occupations besides. Here are some pictures of us working hard this term.

“Whatever Next?” Our topic this term is Teddy Adventures and our first adventure has been to the moon in this brilliant book by Jill Murphy. Hedgehogs have enjoyed riding space hoppers on the moon to develop their gross motor skills, making space pictures with cocktail sticks to develop their snappy fingers and fine motor skills, mark making in “moon dust” (porridge oats!) with paint brushes, doing number rocket count downs and engaging in some super role play. Lots of kind parents and carers donated big cardboard boxes for us to use like Baby Bear in our role play area – thank you! Hedgehogs have loved putting colander space helmets and welly boot space boots on and blasting off to the moon in their cardboard box space ships!

Hedgehogs are doing lots of gross and fine motor skills with mark making activities. Big and small movements get our upper bodies, arms, hands and fingers strong for writing. We do this all year long so that our letter formation develops in to clear, confident, correct pre-cursive letters!

Welcome to our new Hedgehogs. We have had a very busy first term getting to know our school, our teachers and each other. Mrs Leach, Mrs Weeks and Mrs Savage are very pleased with how well we are settling in!

Our Displays and sometimes us!

You can see from our work and displays in our classrooms the variety of topics we cover. As the year progresses, the displays change. By July, you will be able to see the whole range of subjects we have covered. Our Working walls help us learn – the content builds as the term progresses.
