Week commencing 4.2.19:

In English, we will be planning, writing and editing our own rags-to-riches story based on the Scarab’s Secret.

In Maths, we will be calculating area 

In Topic, we will be investigating Howard Carter and his discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen 

Week commencing 11.2.19

In English we will be identifying figurative language (similes and metaphors) in poetry and creating our own poem based on Ancient Egypt.

In Maths, we will be identifying and understanding equivalent fractions

In Topic, we will be discovering the process of mummification by mummifying a tomato

In English, we will immerse ourselves in our new non-fiction book on Ancient Egypt. We will create art work looking out a window onto the landscape of Ancient Egypt.

In Maths, we will be converting fractions more than 1 and adding and subtracting fractions

In Topic, we will be writing a recount from our trip to Bristol Museum

January 2019 – Our very own archaeologist Mrs Hopkins organised a very exciting Egyptian dig for Woodpecker class. We found lots of Egyptian artifacts such as gold, hieroglyphics and even parts of a papyrus.

January 2019 – Woodpecker class had lots of fun making their own Egyptian scarab beetles.

Take a look at some of our work and sometimes us in the classroom. You are always welcome to come into school and take a closer look. You can see from the displays in our classrooms the variety of topics we cover. As the year progresses, the displays change. By July, you will be able to see the whole range of subjects we have covered. Our Working walls help us learn – the content builds as the term progresses.
